Stella
Adopted!
Hi everyone! My name is Stella and I am a spunky 15 month old, female, Boykin Spaniel! As you can see from my pictures, I am a very special girl, and I am looking for an equally special forever family.
I will tell you a little about myself. I was born with an eye infection, and my mother tried to help me by licking my eyes clean, instead she licked my eyes until they had to be removed, leaving me blind since just after I was born. I was taken to a vet’s office to be put to sleep but a wonderful veterinary technician saved me and brought me home. She kept me for just over a year but decided it would be best to find a family for me through BSR.
Right now my foster family is teaching me all about being a pet. I have a great time with the other pets in the home, and I love to be outside roaming the fenced in yard. When I get tired, I just go lay by the door in the shade waiting to go inside. I don’t mind going into a crate, but I do need a little direction since I cannot see where it is. I really like when people talk to me and tell me about the things they see, it gets me excited and makes me tail wag oh so fast. Playing with toys makes my rear-end shake incredibly fast too. I love to jump and pounce chasing the scent of the plaything. After a long hard day of playing, I will gladly take a nap in the bed with you and your other pets!
In my opinion, being blind isn’t a disability; it just makes me different than other dogs. It doesn’t slow me down too much. I know where the water bowl is. I know what my food smells like. And, if my foster parents say the word “wall,” I know that means that I am about to bump into something, so I slow down or stop moving forward. I like to think that being blind makes me unique!
I am looking for a forever home where my owners will have the patience to help me settle into my new life and surroundings. Since I am a young girl, I want to have plenty of play time and toys too! If you think that I would fit into your life, please contact my foster family. They would love to share their stories about me! Stella is being fostered in Valdosta, GA
Application Information
You must be an approved applicant to adopt this dog or any other dog from BSR. If you haven’t done so, please complete an adoption application. You will be happy you did!
Due to limited financial and volunteer resources, BSR does not routinely transport rescued Boykins to new owners. However, if we have volunteers living between the foster home and the new home, those volunteers may be able to assist with transportation in certain situations. In these cases, the new owners will be asked to cover agreed upon transportation expenses.
