Circumstances can arise that require an owner to find a new home for his/her Boykin Spaniel. This page is offered as a service to those who must do this and prefer not to surrender their dog to a shelter or the BSR or when BSR does not have an available foster home.
Boykin Spaniel Rescue, Inc. has not seen or evaluated the dogs listed below; therefore, cannot make any representation or take responsibility for any dog's temperament or health.
Prospective adopters interested in acquiring a dog directly from its owner may contact the owner at the phone number or email listed.

OWNERS-
This page is to help you find a good home for your Boykin Spaniel. To list your dog here:
1. The dog must be a purebred Boykin Spaniel.
2. It must be spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations - vet certificates are required for verification.
3. The dog must be offered as "free to good home". Owners may not charge a fee for the dog.
4. The dog must not have shown aggressive tendencies or ever bitten any person.
5. Owner must submit a $25 donation for the first 2-month listing. Owner may notify BSR to re-list for an additional 2 months for a $10 donation and continue to list with a $10 donation for each additional 2-month listing thereafter.
6. Owner completes, signs a Referral Release form and returns it to BSR, Inc. with appropriate fees and vet certificates.
7. Send us an ad for your dog telling name, age, sex, size, temperament, personality, any health or behavioral problems, any training, how long you've owned, how your dog is with children, cats and other dogs and what kind of home you think would be best for your dog. Give us your name, phone number and/or email address. For best results, include a photo of the dog (photos returned only with enclosed self-addressed stamped envelope). BSR, Inc. reserves the right to edit the ad before posting.
8. Please screen all adopters carefully. Owner is responsible for screening potential adopters and for placing their dog in a new home. Please see our Guidelines for Screening Potential Adopters.
9. BSR, Inc. may refer its applicants to owners when it feels there may be a suitable match for the dog but is not required to do so.
10. BSR, Inc. reserves the right to refuse any owner ad and will refund any fees submitted if the ad is refused.
11. BSR, Inc. assumes no responsibility or liability for the placement of any owner referral dog.

ADOPTERS-
When you inquire about a dog, the following questions might be helpful:
1. Why are you giving up your dog?
2. Has the dog ever bitten, nipped or 'gone after' anyone?
3. Does it have any health problems? Who is your vet? May I contact him/her?
4. Where did you get the dog? Does it have papers?
5. Does your dog have any training? Is it housetrained? Crate trained?
6. Is the dog left alone for long periods? What does it do? Bark? Dig? Chew? Is it an inside or outside dog? Where does it sleep?
7. How does the dog behave with adults, children? Other dogs? Cats?
8. Is your dog mellow? Calm? Energetic? Protective? Affectionate?
